Always submit your resume in both a Word and PDF format!
PDF’s by nature are not meant to be “unpackaged” so can make many resumes difficult to upload into modern recruitment systems therefore not allowing for pre-populated fields to be completed in recruitment software. Recruiters can also have difficulty inserting a PDF document (which could mean your resume) into reports that they send to prospective employers which means in some cases it can even take you out of the running for your dream job!
